Program awarded for efforts to support teachers of English learners

SAN JOSE, CA – The "A Look at Learning" system of the Santa Clara County Office of Education has been awarded the California School Boards Association's "Golden Bell" award.

The Golden Bell Awards program honored A.L.L. in its "Closing the Achievement Gap" category, which recognizes efforts to ensure the academic achievement of economically disadvantaged students, English language learners and other ethnic subgroups.

A.L.L. is a professional development system for teachers of English learners led by COE Multilingual Programs Coordinator Yee Wan.

For 32 years, the Golden Bell awards have recognized programs in school districts and county offices of education throughout California. A.L.L. will receive its Golden Bell award at a December luncheon in San Diego.
