Teacher Recognition Celebration Applauds
Santa Clara County's Finest Teachers
SAN JOSE – Local educators and community leaders will applaud the professional excellence of Santa Clara County's 30 "Teachers of the Year" at the 41st annual Teacher Recognition Celebration, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29 at the Heritage Theatre in Campbell. View list of teachers.
School districts selected their honorees based on each teacher's dedication to students, classroom skill and commitment to life-long learning. This year's recipients of the most prestigious local teaching award include public school teachers of nearly every grade and subject matter.
Presented by the Santa Clara County Office of Education, the recognition ceremony is the oldest and largest of its kind in California. Dr. Charles Weis, County Superintendent of Schools, and Jessica Aguirre, NBC Bay Area News anchor, will co-host the gala celebration, which will include performances from the Gilroy High School Chamber Singers. Honorees will also enjoy fine cuisine, receive engraved awards, and appear in video profiles.
Teacher Recognition Day is co-sponsored by the Santa Clara County Federal Credit Union and National Semiconductor Foundation, with support from the San Jose Mercury News. The SCCOE, Sixth District PTA and Santa Clara County School Boards Association provide additional support.
Other supporters of the event include 300 San Jose, All Ears Audio Books, Ballet San Jose, Classic Car Wash of Campbell, Computer History Museum, Electronic Arts, Happy Hollow, Milligan News Co., Monterey Bay Aquarium, Morrison School Supplies, Opera San Jose, Resource Area for Teachers, San Jose Repertory Theatre, Santana Row, Symphony Silicon Valley, Target and Theatreworks Silicon Valley.
