Head Start preschool services are available at no cost to income eligible families in Santa Clara and San Benito Counties (income eligibility is based on Federal Poverty Guidelines). Those eligible include:
* Families with preschool children (child must turn 3 yrs. old AND must not turn 5 yrs. old by December 2nd – before they are eligible for kindergarten) * Children with special needs, including those with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP) * Foster children * Children with high risk factors and/or disabling conditions (such as autism; emotional/behavioral disorders; hearing, health, visual, orthopedic, speech, language or learning disabilities; mental retardation; traumatic brain injuries; or developmental delays) * Immigrants or refugees * Families participating in CalWORKs, working full-time, attending school, or job training
